¡Siempre Adelante!
In quite a literal sense, Mission Basilica of San Buenaventura has taken Fray Junipero Serra's revered advice, ¡Siempre Adelante! -- always go forward – about as far as we can.
The Mission Basilica campus is fully developed. So what can be done in the present to sustain our ministries in the future?
A message from Fr. Tom:
"Where there is a will, there is a way for Mission Basilica San Buenaventura to be in it!"
Fray Serra founded the beginning of the California Missions. Now you can help fund a program to sustain Catholic ministries at Mission Basilica San Buenaventura for generations to come by donating to the Mission Basilica San Buenaventura Endowment Trust Fund.

Mission Basilica San Buenaventura Legacy Society:
Members of the Mission Legacy Society have expressed their commitment to Mission Basilica San Buenaventura through a very special and important form of financial support. Parishioners and friends have named Mission San Buenaventura as the ultimate beneficiary of a planned gift. Such gifts might include a bequest in a will or trust or one of many other gifting opportunities such as charitable income gifts, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder unitrusts, gifts of life insurance or gifts through the Catholic Community Foundation.
Once you complete your estate plans, please inform our pastor to let us know your future gift intention. We appreciate the opportunity to thank you for your generosity by including you in the Mission Legacy Society.
Legacy Society Membership Benefits:
Your membership involves no dues, obligations, or solicitations, but it does allow us to thank you and recognize you for the plans you have made to remember your beloved Mission and it may inspire generosity in others. Benefits of membership in the Mission Basilica Legacy Society include annual luncheons, invitations to special events and seminars, and an electronic subscription to our weekly bulletin. The most important benefit you will receive from joining the Mission Basilica Legacy Society is the satisfaction derived from making a lasting contribution to our long-term success living and spreading the Gospel message planted at Mission Basilica San Buenaventura by Saint Junipero Serra in 1782.
Did you know there are creative ways to support the Mission...ways in which the Mission ministries, you and your loved ones all benefit at the same time?
Such giving opportunities are called "planned gifts". With thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you, your loved ones and your beloved Mission Basilica San Buenaventura.
For example:
You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime.
You can gift stock and realize larger tax savings.
Please CLICK HERE for stock transfer protocols.
You can purchase a life insurance policy to benefit the parish.
You can get a monthly paycheck for life in return for your gift.
You can donate your house, continue to live there, and receive a tax break all at the same time.

Gifts of Bequests
Add your name to the legacy of Mission Basilica San Buenaventura by including a gift within your estate plan, Trust or will and become a sustaining member of the Legacy Society.
Gifts of Stocks and Bonds
Securities can provide considerable tax advantages when transferred to Mission Basilica San Buenaventura before they are sold. If you have held your securities for more than one year, you may find that your gift will provide a twofold tax benefit, creating an income-tax deduction as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would have been due on their sale.
Gifts of Real Estate
Real estate, including personal residences, second homes, income property, and vacant land offer a wide variety of tax and other benefits. Whereas most people give their entire interest away, it is also possible to give only a portion of the property (an undivided percentage interest) while retaining the rest for other purposes.
Gifts of Personal Property
Property, including rare books, works of art, valuable collectibles, and tangible items of demonstrable value in some cases may enable you to make a significant gift to support our school with outstanding tax benefits to you. Likewise, gifts of intangible personal property, such as copyrights, patents, and mineral rights, can generate income for the program of your choice on a continuing basis.
Where there is a will, there is a way for Mission Basilica San Buenaventura to be in it.
