The letters of Junipero Serra
For the best window on Saint Junipero Serra’s life, please read his diaries, from 1769 to 1784, and the approximately 250 letters that remain. They were translated and published in the 1950s by the Academy of American Franciscan History, now located at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, San Diego County, Calif.
